Abstract:

Emotions can be portrayed in a non verbal way through physiological signals and facial expressions. ln this paper, two approaches for recognizing emotions by analyzing physiological signals and examining expression changes of face sequences from videos are presented . Physiological signals are captured by a sphygmomanometer and a pulseoxymeter, while fadal expressions are recorded by a video camera. The experimental results are obtained from the analysis of physiological signals by an expert (a medical doctor) and from the developed automatic emotion recognition system based on pattern matching method. Experimental results show that the developed emotion recognition system outpeifonns the physiological analysis approach.
